| "Breast" Sentinel Node Protocol |
H&E (L-1,2,3)sent to Pathologist for microscopic evaluation. AE1/AE3submitted to IHC Lab for automatic cytokeratin stain and ACIS reporting. |
Identify cassette as "Breast Sent Node" upon submission for processing in 10% NBF (Carnoys is not an acceptable fixative for IHC). Three levels will initially be cut on identified blocks. All levels will be stained by H&E and sent for microscopic evaluation. The subsequent AE1/AE3 will be processed in the IHC lab. The cytokeratin stain and ACIS report WILL BE performed automatically. Expected turnaround time is 24 - 48 business hours, depending on Immuno and ACIS workloads. |
| "Melanoma" Sentinel Node Protocol |
H&E
sent to Pathologist for microscopic evaluation.
S100, Melan-A and HMB45

Identify cassette as "Melanoma Sent Node" upon submission for processing in 10% NBF (Carnoys is not an acceptable fixative for IHC) A single H&E will be cut from the top of the block and sent to the pathologist for microscopic evaluation. Subsequent slides will be cut for S-100, Melan-A, and HMB-45. The IHC's will be stained and sent to the pathologists for review the following day. ACIS imagining is not available with these antibodies. |
